Preamble

At the beginning of class we passed out a small strip of paper that contained the preamble of the United States Constitution. We read it as a class and all the students were told they have a week to memorize it.

Below is an awesome song to help memorize it:

Compare Jamestown to Plymouth

To recap our previous lessons about Jamestown and Plymouth the students completed a double bubble thinking map comparing the two. (Download Thinking Map)

13 Colonies Intro

We started out answering a just a few questions with using a chart of the Original 13 Colonies. Students had to pull data from the chart to answer them correctly. They also had to write down why the other answers were wrong.

They were then tasked with categorizing the colonies based on regions, or similarities based on the information they pulled from the chart.

Lastly, students had to color a map of the 13 colonies based on the 3 regions: New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies for a visual reference.
